SETTING 1
Ditch the 4-digit PIN. Use a 6-digit PIN, a long password or a pattern — and set auto-lock to 30 seconds. Your lock screen is your first line of defence.
SETTING 2
Biometrics are fast and safer than a weak PIN. Register the same finger twice for better accuracy, and always keep a strong backup passcode.
SETTING 3
Switch on 2FA for your email, bank and social accounts. An authenticator app beats SMS codes — hackers can intercept texts.
SETTING 4
Go through Settings and revoke camera, mic and location access for apps that do not need them. A torch app has no business knowing where you live.
SETTING 5
Banks and couriers never ask for passwords by text. If a message creates panic — "account suspended" — it is almost certainly a scam. Delete it.
SETTING 6
Keep automatic updates on for security patches, and enable Find My Device so you can locate, lock or wipe a lost phone remotely.
